Carpet

Soft, warm and quiet. Still the best answer for bedrooms.

What it is

Carpet is fibre tufted onto a backing, laid over underlay. The fibre sets how it feels and how it handles stains and sun. The pile sets how well it hides footprints.

Best rooms

Bedrooms, lounges and stairs. Twist or tight loop for stairs and busy rooms. Plush for bedrooms.

Worth knowing

Sun fades it. Colour that is only on the surface fades faster. For a sunny room, solution dyed nylon holds its colour much better.

  • Soft and warm underfoot
  • Quieter than any hard floor
  • Solution dyed nylon resists fading
  • Twist and loop piles hide footprints
  • Wool is soft and sheds liquid at first
