How much does SPC flooring cost in Brisbane?
SPC flooring is one of the most popular floors for Brisbane homes. It is hard. It does not soak up water. It looks like real timber or stone. Before you book a measure, it helps to know one thing. What moves the price. Here is what changes the cost of an SPC job. And here is a typical Brisbane price.
What changes the price of SPC flooring
Six things drive the price of an SPC job. The subfloor matters more than any of the rest.
- The condition of your subfloor. A flat, dry, solid base is the cheapest start. An uneven or damp one needs work first. That is almost always the biggest single cost.
- Removing your old floor. Old carpet comes up fast. Glued vinyl or old tiles take longer to lift. They also cost more to cart away.
- Skimming over old tiles. SPC can often go over sound, flat tiles. Deep grout lines sometimes need a skim coat first. That stops them showing through the new floor.
- Trimming doors and skirting. A new floor sits at a different height to your old one. Doors often need a trim. Skirting sometimes needs a small cut or a scotia strip.
- How many rooms. More rooms means more material and more time. A bigger job can also cost less per square metre. That is because the setup cost spreads over more space.
- The wear layer you pick. A thicker wear layer costs a little more. It holds up better in a busy hallway or living room.
Why the subfloor matters most
SPC needs a subfloor that is flat, firm and clean. It should be flat to 3mm over a 2 metre straight edge. It should have no sharp steps or loose debris.
Over concrete, low spots get filled with self-levelling compound. That compound needs time to cure before flooring goes down. Over timber, loose boards get fixed first. Protruding nails get punched down too. Sometimes a ply layer goes on for a smooth base. Over existing tiles, we can often lay straight on top. This works if the tiles are sound and flat. Deep grout lines usually need a skim first.
None of this can be priced from a photo. It is why every quote starts with a measure, not a guess.
What SPC costs in Brisbane

Supplied and laid, it typically runs from $75 to $95 a square metre. Entry board starts around $60. That price buys a thin wear layer. It suits a spare room more than a hallway. A premium board can run up to $150.

What installation day looks like
Most single rooms are finished in a day. A full house usually takes a few days. That is mostly driven by how much old flooring has to come out first.
- Your old flooring comes out and gets taken away.
- Your subfloor gets checked, and levelled if it needs it.
- Your new SPC flooring goes down, with proper gaps and trims at the edges.
- The site gets cleaned up before we leave.
A cheap quote can leave things out
A low headline price sounds good at first. The extras often turn up later. Old floor removal, levelling, skirting work, stairs and door trimming are often left off a cheap quote. Check what is and is not included. Do this before you compare two prices.
